Chicago DBT Institute® is a specialty outpatient center on the North Shore of Chicago, providing comprehensive Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) with Linehan Board-Certified clinicians.
Our experienced team uses DBT and other evidence-based treatments to help children, teens, and adults with disorders related to emotion regulation. These disorders can include depression, anxiety, impulsivity, self-harm, suicidal thoughts, relationship conflict, acting-out behaviors, school refusal, eating disorders, substance abuse, and post-traumatic stress disorder.
Our goal is to teach patients to manage their emotions effectively, empowering them with lasting skills to relieve symptoms and build a fulfilling life. Our program requires:
Weekly individual therapy
Weekly group skills training (minimum 24 weeks)
Phone coaching as needed
Parents can also learn skills, receive support (including phone coaching), and improve their relationship with the patient. We believe that life can be meaningful, even in the face of pain and suffering, and that everyone can create life-changing improvements.

Emotional Support Dogs
Many therapists at Chicago DBT Institute® have dogs who hang out all day in their offices. They love making friends and are all very lovable and sweet. We find the pups help most people feel comfortable and supported, providing a little affection and a warm-hearted welcome. If for any reason you do not want to share your therapy session with a dog, we will be very happy to give them a time out in another office. We want you to feel comfortable and at home!
