Katie Barry is a post-master's fellow at the Chicago DBT Institute. She recently earned her master's degree in Counseling Psychology at The Chicago Professional School of Psychology. Most recently, Katie completed her master’s level internship at Linden Oaks Behavioral Health. There she engaged in individual, group, and skills training for adolescents, adults, and families, as well as providing Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) to adolescents. Katie received foundational training in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) through Linden Oaks.

Katie has worked with clients struggling with depression, anxiety, PTSD, suicidal ideation, self-harm, disordered eating, and emotion dysregulation. As a therapist, Katie believes that through respectful curiosity and compassion, clients will be able to find new ways to cope, while also working to identify and improve the issues that are keeping them stuck. She recognizes the value of meeting a client where they are at and also taking into consideration the environment around them. Katie is passionate about empowering her clients so that they are able to achieve the life they have always envisioned for themselves.

In her free time, Katie loves traveling and is an avid reader. She enjoys exploring new restaurants, walking on the Chicago lakefront with her dog, and spending time with her loved ones.
